Nightlife Safety & Security Policy

Culture of Color Collective (CoCC) is committed to hosting nightlife experiences that center Black queer joy, connection, and community care. To help ensure the well-being of all attendees, performers, and staff, we maintain the following safety and security policies. By attending a CoCC nightlife event, you agree to these policies and acknowledge the responsibilities and risks associated with nightlife spaces.

Our Commitment to Safety

CoCC strives to create environments that are affirming, accessible, and welcoming. We work closely with venues and trained personnel to support a safe atmosphere through:

  • Security presence and crowd management

  • Monitoring capacity and ensuring safe flow through the venue

  • Support staff trained to support attendees’ well-being

  • Collaboration with venue partners on emergency procedures

While we do everything we can to promote safety, nightlife environments carry inherent risks, and attendees share in the responsibility for maintaining a safe space.

Personal Responsibility & Awareness

Attendees are responsible for their own behavior, decisions, and personal belongings at all CoCC events. This includes:

  • Monitoring your alcohol intake

  • Staying hydrated

  • Being aware of your surroundings

  • Keeping personal items secured

  • Asking for assistance if you feel unwell or unsafe

If at any time you or someone near you needs support, please notify CoCC support staff or security immediately.

Alcohol Safety

To maintain a safe and enjoyable environment:

  • You must be 21+ to consume alcohol. A valid ID is required.

  • Attendees are responsible for managing their level of intoxication.

  • Bartenders and staff may refuse alcohol service at any time for safety reasons.

  • CoCC encourages attendees to pace themselves and look out for one another.

  • Driving under the influence is strictly prohibited. We encourage using rideshare, public transit, or carpooling.

CoCC is not responsible for alcohol-related incidents, including illness, property damage, or injury.

Drug Safety

Culture of Color Collective is committed to fostering nightlife spaces that prioritize awareness, care, and mutual responsibility. While we work with venues to promote a safe environment, we recognize that risks related to drug and drink tampering can occur in public nightlife settings.

To protect yourself and others:

  • Be mindful of what you consume and how it affects your body

  • Never leave your drink unattended.

  • Do not accept drinks from strangers unless handed directly by the bartender.

  • Avoid sharing substances or accepting substances from strangers.

  • Notify security immediately if you witness suspicious behavior.

  • Seek medical attention promptly if you or someone else feels suddenly impaired or disoriented.

CoCC prohibits illegal drug use, distribution, or possession at all events. CoCC is not liable for harm, injury, illness, or loss resulting from drug-related incidents or the actions of third parties.
